Coach Ward is beginning his 43rd year in the coaching profession. His 10th year, this time around at Edmond Memorial. He is a 1965 graduate of Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School, a 1971 graduate of Panhandle State University and in 2003 coach received his M.Ed. from the University of Central Oklahoma.
His coaching stops include assistant roles at Bishop McGuinness 1971-74, Edmond Memorial 1975-78, Pawhuska 1979, Putnam City West 1980-82, back to Bishop McGuinness as Head Football Coach 1983-2000. During his time as Bishop McGuinness' Head Coach he was Daily Oklahoma Little All City Coach of the year 1983 & 1986, Oil Bowl Coach 1987 and All State Football Coach 1988 and two different stints as coach of the Jim Thorpe All Star Football game. From 2001-2003 coach served as an assistant football coach at Bishop McGuinness and in 2004 Coach Ward returned to Edmond.
Coach Ward now handles all of the Speed-Strength & Conditioning for the football team, as well as the Speed- Strength training for the Boys & Girls Basketball teams, the Bulldog Baseball team and multiple other athletes who enroll in his Weight Training and Speed Development Classes.
He and his wife Christie just celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary and the have been blessed with four sons, Daniel & wife Brynn, Brian & wife Blythe, Tim and Kevin. They also have five grandchildren Banton, Beatrice, Cooper, Stevie Grace & Benjamin.
Coach's favorite quote is "Fatigue makes cowards of us all" from Vince Lombardi. He feels his job is to keep our players in the best shape possible so that our opponents are the ones worrying about their fatigue.
